About the Film
“A.W. Baby” is a short film that takes place in a near future (2032-2038) where artificial wombs are a common option in healthcare. A high-risk pregnancy is saved by the innovation, and we see how this experience is shared with the resulting child.
The story uses flashbacks and home videos to show the milestones of the exo-pregnancy in a relatable and engaging way. The film celebrates the positive use of technology, family planning and community. It focuses on the very real challenges of pregnancy and the ways that future technologies could make them easier, as well as the unique relationship that women+ have with “motherhood.”
